New page

Sir '''Norton Knatchbull''' (1602–1685) was educated at Eton College and St John's College, Cambridge.
He was knighted and made a baronet in 1641 and was a Member of Parliament for New Romney from 1640 to his death.<ref>https://www.historyofparliamentonline.org/volume/1660-1690/member/knatchbull-sir-norton-1602-85</ref>
The ''[[Benefactors' Book]]'' records that he gave a collection of Greek liturgies (f. 104r):
'''Nortonus Knatsbull''' de Mershams-hatch in Comitatu Cant: Armiger: dedit
Libros liturgicos græcos: 20 Vol: fol:
4°. 8°. 16°
As this entry does not mention his new title, it can be assumed that the gift was made before mid-1641 but after the [[1638 inventory]] which does not list these books.
