Francis Godwin

Francis Godwin (1562–1633), the son of Thomas Godwin, Bishop of Bath and Wells, was educated at Christ Church, Oxford (1578, B.A. 1580, M.A. 1583, B.D. 1593, D.D. 1595). He was appointed subdean of Exeter in 1587. His major publication was his Catalogue of the Bishops of England since the first planting of the Christian Religion in this Island (1601, 2nd edition 1615, Latin translation 1616).
