Martin Lister

Martin Lister (c. 1638–1712) F.R.S., F.R.C.P., naturalist and physician, gave several books to the Cathedral Library, including a copy of his pioneering works on molluscs. Lister's daughter Frances was the second wife of the Rev. Owen Evans, rector of St Martin's, Canterbury (d. 1742). Lister became a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1671 and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in 1687.
