Part of the bequest of Stephen Hunt (1714), probably purchased in Paris.
Previously owned by a member of a French noble family and then by Jean Gallois, Abbot of the Priory of Cuers, member of the Académie Française, and professor of French at the Collège royal, who bought it for 6 livres in 1674. Stephen Hunt owned a copy of the 1710 sale catalogue of Gallois's library.
