- Bookbinder’s printed label on front pastedown: Hayward, Bookbinder, 6, Burgate Lane Canterbury.
- Presumably purchased in paper covers and bound by Charles Thomas Hayward, who is recorded as working as a bookbinder at 6 Burgate Lane, Canterbury from 1838. Subsequent members of the family continued the firm at the same address into the twentieth century.
