Archdeacons of Canterbury from 1600 to 1869

1595: Charles Fotherby, became Dean of Canterbury in 1615, but held the archdeaconry in commendam until his death in 1619.
1619: William Kingsley, died in 1648.

1660: George Hall, became bishop of Chester in 1662, but held the archdeaconry in commendam until his death in 1668.
1668: William Sancroft,  was also Dean of St Paul's (1664-1678) and Archbishop of Canterbury (1677 to his suspension in 1690).
1672: Samuel Parker, became bishop of Oxford in 1686, but held the archdeaconry in commendam until death in 1688.
1688: John Battely, died in 1708.
1708: Thomas Green, became bishop of Norwich in 1721.
1721: Thomas Bowers, became bishop of Chichester 1722, but held the archdeaconry in commendam until his death in 1724.
1724: Samuel Lisle, became bishop of St Asaph in 1744, but held the archdeaconry in commendam until his translation to Norwich in 1748.
1748: Sir John Head, died in 1769.
1769: William Backhouse, died in 1788.
1788: John Lynch, died in 1803.
1803: Houstonne Radcliffe, died in 1822.
1822: Hon. Hugh Percy, resigned the archdeaconry on becoming Dean of Canterbury in 1825.
1825: James Croft, died in 1869. 

Stall IV was permanently annexed to the archdeaconry of Canterbury in 1852.
