Inscription on verso of front free endpaper: Ricardo Bagot Episcopo Oxoniensi et Decano Cantuariensi Carolus Bagot. Ecclesiæ suæ Cathedrali Ricardus Bagot D.D.
Given by Sir Charles Bagot (1781–1843) to his brother Richard Bagot (1782–1854), Dean of Canterbury (1827–1845) and Bishop of Oxford (1829-1845), probably in the period 1831-1841 when Sir Charles Bagot was not on diplomatic duties abroad. The book was subsequently given by Richard Bagot to Canterbury Cathedral Library, possibly on his resignation in 1845.
