Dr Bray's Associates was the body established following the death of Thomas Bray (1656–1730) to continue the work of Bray's Trustees in providing parochial libraries in poorer parts of the country.[1] In the nineteenth century the Associates tended to set up clerical lending libraries as at Chipping Sodbury (below). The Directory of Parochial Libraries knew of no surviving books from Chipping Sodbury.[2]
