Edward Hailstone (1818-1890), of Walton Hall, Wakefield, Yorkshire solicitor, churchwarden and book collector, who left a sizeable collection on Yorkshire to the Library of York Minster. The rest of his books were sold by Sotheby's in 1891[1] and numerous books with his bookplate are recorded elsewhere e.g. (St John's College, Cambridge, with illustration).
