Henry Stevens

Henry Stevens (1819-1886), bibliographer, was born in Vermont and studied at Yale (graduated 1843) and at Harvard Law School (1843-1844). In 1845 he moved to London where he worked as a library agent specialising in Americana for the British Museum Library and for various American collectors and institutions. He was a member of the Society of Antiquaries and of the American Antiquarian Society.

He visited the Cathedral Library in 1849 and 1853 and presented a book to the Library on each occasion.
