Purchased in 1753 for the Benedictine abbey of Münsterschwarzach, Bavaria, under Abbot Christophorus Balbus (1702–1766), abbot from 1742 to 1761.

The book was probably acquired by Canterbury Cathedral Library during the nineteenth century following the secularisation of the abbey in 1803/4.
