London: 1662.- Inscription on label on front pastedown: George Shelvocke 1709 left him by Mr Dan. Meacham.
- Inscription on front pastedown: I put this piece of paper here, as tis the hand writing of Captain Shelvocke, Father of my much honour'd Dear Friend Mr. Shelvocke whose book this was, which I had new bound … Mary Cooke, Dorset Court, Cannon Row, Westminster, January 28th 1771.
- Engraved label on back pastedown: Dr. Cooke, Dorset Court, Parliament Street, Westminster.
- Bookseller's label (torn) on front pastedown: Sold by <C.> J. Stewart King William St. Strand, London.
- Owned in succession by Daniel Meacham (unidentified), who gave it in 1709 to Captain George Shelvocke (1675–1742, naval officer and privateer); it was inherited by his son George Shelvocke (died 1760, Secretary to the General Post Office).[1] By 1771 it had passed into the hands of Mary Cooke (died 1784), step-daughter of the younger George Shelvocke, and then passed to her husband Dr Benjamin Cooke (1734–1793, organist at Westminster Abbey). It probably then passed into the hands of Cooke's daughter Mary (1762–1819) or her younger brother Robert (1768–1814) who was also organist at the Abbey.[2]
- The book subsequently came into the possession of the bookseller Charles John Stewart who traded as a 'Theological bookseller' at 11 King William Street, W. Strand, London between 1837 and 1882.[3] The Cathedral Library has a number of books with his label.
