William Bennett

William Bennett (1766-1852), was a minor canon of the Cathedral. He was admitted to Trinity College, Cambridge in 1783 (B.A. 1787; M.A. 1811) and was ordained deacon in 1788, priest in 1789. He was appointed curate of Coveney, Cambs., 1788; curate of Smarden, Kent, 1791; Minor Canon of Canterbury, 1801; vicar of Stone-in-Oxney, 1801-20; curate of St Dunstan's, Canterbury, 1814; vicar of Littlebourne, Kent, 1820-4; rector of St George-the-Martyr with St Mary Magdalene, Canterbury, 1824-6; vicar of Milton with Sittingbourne, 1826-52; rector of Milton, 1834-44. He died at Canterbury in 1852, aged 87.[1]
