The Cathedral's 1802 printed catalogue was prepared by H.J. Todd who had been the cathedral librarian while a minor canon at Canterbury. A manuscript note in his personal copy (W2/Q-3-8) states that 160 copies were printed, not for sale. Todd states that he compiled the alphabetical author section of the catalogue and that the second section (the shelf lists) was based on David Wilkins's catalogue for shelves A to X ((CCA-DCc-LA/2/5) supplemented by his own listing of shelves Y to LL.

Todd gives a list of the complimentary copies which were dispatched to other libraries and notables:
