Henry Alford (1810–1871) was Dean 1857–1871. He served for a time as Canon Librarian with Benjamin Harrison.

The Chapter Library has a number of books which belonged to his wife Fanny Oke Alford (1811–1878), his daughter Alice Oke Bullock (1837–  ), his granddaughter Edith Mary Somerville (1866–  ), and his great-granddaughter Edith Joan Somerville (1901–1958) who gave many of these books to the Chapter Library in 1939.
