Jeremiah Milles

Jeremiah Milles (1714-1784), clergyman and antiquary, was Dean of Exeter between 1762 and 1784. He was educated at Eton College (1725–1728?) and Corpus Christi College, Oxford, (matriculated 1729; BA 1733; MA 1735; BD and DD 1747). He was ordained in 1734 and then held parish and cathedral positions in Ireland until 1744. He was rector of Saltwood with Hythe, Kent, from 1744 until 1746. In 1747 he became a prebendary of Exeter Cathedral and in 1762 was elected dean. He was elected fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of London in 1741, becoming its president in 1769. He was also a fellow of the Royal Society.[1]
