- Apparently given by the book's publisher, William Bowyer, to Dr Arthur Charlett (1655–1722), Master of University College, Oxford, (1692–1722).
The book next passed into the hands of George Ballard of Magdalen College, Oxford, (1706–1755) who had inherited papers and books from Dr Charlett.[1]
It was later in the possession of Robert Charles Eden (1836–1907) who settled in the United States in 1859.[2] His father, Rev. Hon. William Eden (1792–1859) was rector of Bishopsbourne and a Six Preacher.[3] The book was presumably given to the Chapter Library before R.C. Eden's departure to America.
