William Watmer was an alderman of Canterbury in the early 17th century, and mayor in 1608 and 1620.[1]

He is recorded as an owner of Saint Thomas Aquinas, Enarrationes, quas Cathenam vere auream dicunt, in quatuor Euangelia, 1532. The book presumably passed to hHis son Giles Whatmer who died in 1675, which coincides with a recorded date of purchase, when the book was probably bought by Edmund Burges and given to the Cathedral Library.
