This book was presumably purchased for the chapel of St John's Hospital, Canterbury in the reign of Elizabeth I. It was rebound in 1804 under the Mastership of Dr Houstonne Radcliffe (1738 or 1739–1822), Archdeacon of Canterbury from 1803 to 1822. It was repaired by the Cathedral's binder P. (Jack) Maple in 1960, presumably when it was deposited by the Hospital.
